After Hurricanes Irma and Maria ravaged the Caribbean last year, Barbados became even closer to becoming a full-fledged independent nation. With now-independent Antigua and Anguilla under its wing, Barbados now supports both the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Kingdom of Spain to further its sovereignty efforts. In a recent interview, William and Kate, Prince William and Kate Middleton, got to visit with Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, followed by King Felipe VI of Spain.
