Man fatally shot in Brampton identified

Police say they have identified a man shot and killed in Brampton, Ont., on Wednesday night.

A statement from Peel Regional Police said that at about 7:10 p.m., officers responded to a call of a man down on Dalwood Avenue. Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police believe the shooting occurred inside a home in the 1500 block of Dalwood Avenue and said the suspect fled the scene.

Brampton is just south of Toronto, where a stabbing in March killed a 13-year-old boy, and where two gang slayings in 2015 left three dead in an otherwise quiet community, including a 10-year-old girl.
