In a momentous occasion, Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee recently inaugurated the new District & Sessions Court building in North Goa’s capital city, Panaji. This state-of-the-art infrastructure marks a significant milestone in the judicial history of Goa, reflecting the state’s commitment to upholding justice and providing a modern platform for legal proceedings.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including senior judges, government officials, and members of the bar association. The event began with a traditional lamp lighting, followed by an address by Chief Justice Banerjee. The new court building boasts cutting-edge technology and design, incorporating environmentally sustainable features such as solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems. Spread across six floors, it houses ten courtrooms, four of which are dedicated to criminal cases, while three cater to civil matters. Additionally, there are two special courts for dealing with issues related to women and children.
This development comes as a welcome relief to the residents of North Goa, who previously had to travel long distances to attend court hearings in the state capital. With the establishment of this modern facility, the judicial system in Goa takes a step forward in ensuring speedier trials and improved access to justice for all citizens.
